COLOUR WORLDS. FROM MONET TO YVES KLEIN
WORKS OF CLASSIC MODERNISM FROM THE KUNSTMUSEEN KREFELD

A choice selection of top international works from the collection of the Kunstmuseen Krefeld are setting off on tour. Some 55 paintings and sculptures will be making their way to Bremen, Erfurt, Würzburg, Cottbus, Freiburg and Rotterdam. The spectrum ranges from icons of Impressionisms to works by the Expressionists, to highlights of abstract painting. Above all this selection outlines the way colour emancipated itself in painting: from Claude Monet's atmospheric cityscape (The Houses of Parliament, 1904) to monochrome paintings by Piero Manzoni and Yves Klein. And ultimately to Lucio Fontana, who slit the canvas in order to open the painting up to the third dimension.

The touring exhibition is accompanied by an extensive catalogue (in German) with texts on the history of the Kunstmuseen Krefeld and the works. The catalogue is also available at the Kunstmuseen Krefeld.
